It’s a haven for nature lovers, adventurers and those seeking respite from the bustle of life. Intimately curated with just six suites and a hilltop villa, accommodating up to twelve guests, it’s the perfect place for a get-together with old friends, for multi-generational family holidays or romantic getaways, featuring exclusive use of 97,000 hectares of vast arid plains, meandering riverbeds, rocky mountains and the mighty Orange River.

Just a stone's throw from the main lodge, 6 private suites ensure total seclusion and privacy, offering a serene retreat amidst the rugged beauty of the landscape. The Sandfontein suites offer 280 sqm (3,000 sqf)[1] of combined indoor and outdoor living space. Each is equipped with our unique, custom-made StarBed, allowing guests to choose to sleep in- or outdoors.

Stone Suites
Positioned to make the most out of the view, the intimate stone suites, each with a private outdoor living area and StarBed, offer panoramic views across the red rock mountains, particularly breathtaking at dawn and dusk. The spacious outdoor living area, with outside shower, sun loungers and StarBed, invites guests to dine and sleep under the stars after a day of exploring the great outdoors. Inside, a cocooning space awaits, with a King-sized bed, twin vanities and a rain shower.

The Sand Suite
Positioned for enhanced privacy, the Sand Suite’s King-sized bed and living area is more spacious, offering 400 sqm of indoor and outdoor seclusion. Sweeping views of the red mountains can be admired from the private terrace, complete with outdoor living area and a StarBed.

The Sand Suite enjoys romantic natural light and offers a spacious living space, including a soaring bedroom and a comfortable living area. The en-suite bathing area features a soaking tub with a splendid view, a walk-in shower, twin vanities and a writing area, window seating and wardrobe. The outdoor living area, with a private living space, outdoor shower and StarBed, is ideal for taking in the ever-shifting vistas of the landscape and for stargazing.

The Lost Poet Villa
Situated on a hill-top, 5km from the Sandfontein Lodge, sits the Lost Poet Villa, offering truly magical views. With a large indoor- and outdoor living space and its own 15 metre pool, The Lost Poet Villa sleeps up to eight guests and is fully provisioned and serviced by the Sandfontein Lodge and team.

Due to its elevation, the Lost Poet Villa delivers 360 degree panoramic views of the surrounding landscape with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Four bedrooms are located around a central communal living space, with an interactive kitchen and open plan living space, leading to the expansive outdoor area with a private pool, sun loungers and open-air firepit. With exclusive use of the entire Sandfontein Nature Reserve, guests can choose any combination of staying in Sandfontein’s Stone Suites, the Sand Suite and/or the Lost Poet Villa.
