Why is Africa the perfect post Covid holiday

Africa is ready and waiting to welcome guests to explore its pristine wilderness areas and magnificent wildlife.

A safari in Africa is a perfect exercise in social distancing. You are away from the crowds; lodges will have fewer people per game drive vehicle, dining options will be more personal - so overall, you will be getting a more intimate and alternative safari experience.

Understandably, we are a bit nervous about travelling to top-rated and crowded destinations. But, this does not have to be the case. If you want the perfect social distancing vacation - think no further than Africa!

Sit back and imagine an African Safari - the best way to social distance is “in the African Bush!”

On arrival at your safari destination’s closest airport, you can be met and privately transferred to your secluded, intimate lodge - tucked away in the African Bush. A smaller lodge is perfect for social distancing as suites are private and far away from the next suite.

Lunch is served after a personal check-in and freshening up - dining experiences at lodges are intimate and perfect for social distancing - you can even opt to have your meals served on the deck of your suite.

Get ready for an exhilarating afternoon game drive that lasts between 3 - 4 hours. These game drives are conducted in 4 x 4 safari vehicles, with social distancing in mind. With fewer people per vehicle - what an excellent way to social distance and on top of that have the most fantastic game viewing experience - what a life!!

Head back to the lodge and freshen up for dinner, usually served under the stars.

Morning time - Wakey Wakey

Your day starts with an early morning wake up call - enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before heading out on a 3 to 4 hour early morning game drive in a 4 x 4 safari vehicle - enjoy the morning sights and sounds of the African bush waking up.

Breakfast is enjoyed at the lodge or even at a secret spot in the bush - there are always surprises waiting for you.

The rest of the morning can be spent enjoying the lodge facilities and activities on offer - or just relaxing on your deck - or even a mid-morning nap - whatever suits you.

Lunch is served before you head out on another afternoon game drive. You end another day in Africa with dinner before you retreat to your suite.

The above is a typical day on Safari in the African Bush - away from the crowds and mayhem of every day.

Still looking for the perfect spot?

Namibia is the perfect place when it comes to wide, open spaces! And with mountains, deserts and the coast, it is highly recommended.

Sandfontein Lodge and Nature Reserve is a private hideaway with only 5 bungalows. Therefore a maximum of 10 guests at the lodge at any given time. Also, with no schedules, you can plan your days. Stick to the morning and afternoon activities, or spend your afternoon at the pool and just explore in the morning. The choice is yours.

There are plenty of activities to choose from, ranging from scenic drives, fishing, hiking and canoeing. Spend the evenings under the stars and be amazed by how bright the stars shine.

Whichever spot you choose, Namibia or the rest of Africa, come and explore. Breathe in the fresh air - after being cooped up inside, your body and mind will appreciate the fresh air found in the African bush.

Stay inspired and come to Africa!
